BACK FROM THE LAND OF PLENTY

Well I have now been back in Berlin since Saturday and I must say that I wish I was still laying on the beach in Sardinia. I do not now about you but I find it hard to get back in the swing of things after a week of holiday.

The rest of my week was just like the first bit. We tool long walks on the beach, swam in the warm water and ate fresh seafood. It was our little heaven and our last alone holiday due to the fact that next year when we go the two will be three.

On Friday we had to drive from the south of the island all the way to the north in order to get to the airport that flys to Berlin. I love this as it gives us the opportunity to drive the entire East Coast of Sardinia and enjoy what the island has to offer. Sardinia is pretty much a self sufficient island. They grow and raise all their own food, from Oranges, Apples, Cherries to Cows, Goats, and Sheep. You name it you can find it here. It is amazing everything you eat and drink comes from the island itself. They have their own Beer, their own Cheese, their own salami and of course all the fresh seafood your heart desires.

Here are some photos from the rest of our trip and the drive home.

this was the beach we sat at most days and was just a 5 minute walk down the beach from our hotel!!!

Beach houses!!!!

There was quite a bit of this going around on the beach!!!

Sardinia Beer!!!

Sardinian Chips made of wheat!!! Taste kind of like Tortilla Chips

We ate like this pretty much everyday!!!

holiday reading. If you have ever skateboarded you may like this!!

Our rental. When in Itlay drive Italian!!! The following photos are from our drive up the east coast and into Olbia. We call this the Sardinian Safari, you will see why below. Also keep in mind that these were all taken from inside the car on the roadside!!!

Football on the cliffside anyone?

This is a half tunnel through this hillside. pretty amazing to drive through.

Here is the inside view!!

One thing I forgot about was the fact that Sardinia had run out of Petrol due to it being a holiday there last Monday. Being that there are only two Gas Stations within the 20K of Villasimius!!! When we rolled up to the station we were told that we would have to wait till tomorrow for the gas, then after further inspection we would have to wait till 5pm. Luckily the Attendant was completely wrong and we had to wait an hour!!!

Now back to my real work and reality!!!!

it has the same rolling drum loop as cloudbusting kate bush (my heroine) there are parts of prince, 70's NYC soul, 80's synth, daft-punk and i love the bassline !! ... its not what i would say i buy or listen to but this is FUCKING brilliant in my eyes ... thanks MGMT.

A WHOLE LOTTA NOTHING

I have been in Sardinia since last Friday and I must say each time I come here I fall more in love with doing a whole lotta of nothing. Well that is a lie, I sit on the beach and swim in the sea all day, eat fresh fish and drink amazing white wines. So I guess that is something.

We are staying at the hotel Simius Playa which is the south east part of the island in a tiny village called Villasimius. The hotel is on the beach which makes things very nice and easy for your days of doing nothing. We basically crawl out of bed and on to the beach each morning.

Heres a few of my daily views.

The Italians have no shame when it comes to swimwear

I have another 5 days to go on this holiday. So I will see you all next week!!!

that is a total secret and i cant say where or anything like that ... all i can say is that it feeds my appetite and passion for the past, especially the clothes, the styles, the movements, the cultures ... heres some pics that i took today that hark back to the past and the beginning of one of the greatest subcultural movements ever ... enjoy x

great institutions of working class britain

in reference to the above title it is safe to say that there are many but for me and my wife none more so than the CAR BOOT SALE , we love these kinda things, battered cars and sometimes battered people ... it seems that you can go and invest in items never seemingly any older than being manufactured in and before 1987 ... its a plethora of sights, sounds, and smells ... if any of you lived in a town like i did when growing up where the gypsies came along with their travelling fair but once a year and the odour of candyfloss and hot dogs wafted across the locale inducing both excitement and nausea at the same time ... anyway aside from my attempted poetics , a car boot sale in its glory is much like a travelling fair (just lacking in rides that make you puke) anyway i went to one outside of portsmouth and to my joy, it was a HOT day and the sights, sounds and smells didnt disappoint ...

NICK CAVE

Thanks to my amazing Girlfriend Ines, last night I got to see Nick Cave play at the Tempodrom in Berlin. This show was probably one of the best live shows I have ever seen. He must be the coolest person on earth or at least that is what it felt and looked like last night. I was in awe at his aggressive confident ability on stage. His presence was that of a god.

Here are a few photos to wet your appetite.

I wish you a nice and relaxing weekend. I am off to the countryside for some BBQ in the garden and hopefully alot of sunshine.
